Day to Day

Where are we walking?
Lined up, traversing the same path
Didn't we walk this road yesterday?
Don’t we walk it everyday?
We’re all moving, bobbing up and down
Weaving in and out of each other
Passing people we never speak to
Looking briefly into someone’s eyes
Then forgetting them in less than a second
And the destination is always the same
No matter the day it’s always the same
And when we wake the next day, we repeat and live again as if we’re new and different from the day before
But we change nothing at all
We lead an existence with a clear end in sight
We look at the same brick walls we saw this morning
Walking on our own footsteps over and over again.
Is a path new just because it’s walked on most recently?
We age and the path is well worn but the act is the same
And we void excitement in this world of mundane
But it's what’s expected
And to break this code would be unvirtuous,
Would be frowned upon
So wake up, dress yourself, your day has just begun.
Live it like you’ve never lived it before, but at the end of it remember your moves, remember the people.
When it’s all the same it tends to blur together
When you’re comfortable you tend to be trapped.
